Paul AndrewsI have been swing dancing since 2000. I work for Rock Valley College grant programs: Dislocated Worker Program which helps people to go back to school if they have lost their jobs. I am one of the original members of Forest City Swing. If you have any questions, email me through the website and I will get back to you. Recently my wife and I had our baby, Evan Nicholas Andrews in May 2008. You’ll often see me running around at swing dancing or at any of our other events making sure things run smoothly.

I have been Swing dancing since 1996. Currently I am working at Thermo Fisher Scientific as IT Help Desk. Some of my favorite songs are: Not Ashamed by the Newsboys and How Lucky can one guy be by Indigo Swing. I have a baby girl, Seara who was born June 2007. I enjoy contributing to the community a positive avenue of fun and exercise through swing dancing.

Forest City Swing Dancing Workshop

June 9, 2008

Our next workshop is Saturday, June 21, 2008 at St. Edward Church.

We ask that everyone arrive early for the workshops as we will start on time. If you are late for the workshop you will have a difficult time catching up to the rest of the group. If you need directions or have more questions please call Paul at 815-914-7441. Thank you.

9:00-10:45 (6-count Swing)
You will learn the basics of 6-count swing and several moves. You will learn proper frame, body movement, and 6-count steps. This workshop is very intense so be prepared to learn. Wear tennis shoes or dance shoes and comfortable clothes.

11:00-12:30 (Swing Line Dance)
We will be teaching either the Two Tone Jive, Jitterbug Stroll or the Shim Sham.

1:30-4:00 (Lindy Hop)
Everyone who knows Lindy Hop is strongly encouraged to take this workshop whether you feel you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced Lindy Hopper. We would consider that most people who lindy and are attending Forest City Swing on Thursdays are in the beginning stages of Lindy Hop, even if you have been dancing it for a couple of years. Lindy Hop workshop will focus on the basic swing-out, frame, footwork and moves for the dance floor. This is a difficult dance and it has a longer learning curve. However, Lindy Hop is more versatile and can be danced to more varieties of music. Please wear tennis shoes or dance shoes and comfortable clothes.
